Thanks for coming to the opening!

It’s done! Finally I can open the doors to this weblog. I’m well aware that there won’t be many visitors out there, yet, but this is just the beginning. The topic of choice is marketing and the context is media. Of course, media has become a widely used term but regarding the subject of marketing ‘new media’ is frequently quoted for being the current trend in marketing. In fact, right now I’m working on social media marketing project at Utrecht University. This blog is part of my attempts communicate and record my adventure in the world of marketing on a regular basis to anyone who is willing to listen – or in the case of this blog: read.

I didn’t setup this blog without a goal, so my aspiration is to provide cornerstone content in the field of marketing. Currently, I’m imagining a mix of subjects – not necessarily with predetermined shares – that I want to publish on this site. To make this worth my while, I encourage you to give your feedback to me in the form of comments as well as friend requests on i.e. Facebook and Twitter. Especially in the beginning I’m trying not to limit the content so if there is something you would like me to write about or if you know something that will be interesting for me, please contact me.

Also, if you would like to guest post on this still rather unknown site, please drop me a line, too. The accepted topics range from affiliate marketing to zen marketing (It exists! Stop laughing, Google confirmed it!) and everything in between. I’m also very interested in social networking and marketing, both from a researchers and an entrepreneurs perspective. Entrepreneurship, strategy and management are closely linked to marketing – don’t get me wrong, I don’t want to setup a general economics and business blog but as I don’t want to lock out related topics from the start, hence the broad focus of (new) media minded.

As this is also a very short post, I also want to introduce my first secondary category called Short that will house posts of 500 words length (and shorter). I want to try and test if these posts will help you, the readers, to select items according to your time available or planned for visiting (new) media minded. If you particularly like or don’t like it, please let me know. Now, I’ll just do my final round and check if everything is configured and ready and then I’ll start working on some cornerstone content.

Stay tuned!
